Our fish oil is molecularly distilled to remove PCB’s dioxins and heavy metals such as lead and mercury. This process also reduces oxidation of the oil and helps keep it fresh and stable.
Scientists have given essential fats (a.k.a. essential fatty acids or EFAs) their name because the body must have them to survive, but cannot synthesize them from any other substance we eat, so a direct food source is required. Hence, the name essential. There are many kinds of fats, but only two kinds of essential fats: omega-3 and omega-6, both of which are unsaturated fats. All other fats, such as omega-9 (monounsaturated), are non-essential because the body can produce them from sugars and starches.
Flax oil is a source of alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3), cis-linoleic acid (omega-6) and oleic acid (omega-9). Borage oil is a source of gamma-linolenic acid (omega-6) and cis-linoleic acid (omega-6). Fish oil provides docosahexaenoic acid (DHA omega-3) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA omega-3). Our borage and flax seed oils are 100% cold expeller pressed and hexane free for purity and freshness.
