Bernardine Center Food Pantry
Since 1986 The Bernardine Center has provided emergency food to low income households in Chester.
Some food is supplied through government resources, but the food pantry also depends on local business and individuals to help out with donations. Education and outreach programs are offered under the direction of Director Sister Sandra Lyons within the understanding of Franciscan Catholic Christian traditions.
The Bernardine Center is a founding member of Delaware County Interfaith Food Assistance Network (DIFAN). The Center offers educational, spiritual and advocacy programs to help clients build better lives for themselves, their families and communities. The food pantry also serves neighbors who are confined to their home. Baby items are always in need such as diapers, formula, and baby food. Volunteers help out to distribute these items throughout the month to needy families.
The Bernardine Center is working to eliminate hunger in Delaware County. We have been pleased to partner with them for many years with regular donations of out-of-date bread and other food donations. We salute the Bernardine Center for making Delaware County a better place!
