Herbal Support for Long COVID

Fatigue and brain fog are two of the most challenging symptoms of persistent Covid effects. Finding herbal support for long Covid is essential. A study examined a natural solution for fatigue and brain fog using a combination of Astragalus and Danshen (Salvia miltiorrhiza), also known as Red Sage, to help ease these symptoms. Both herbs have long histories in traditional Chinese medicine for treating various conditions and promoting overall health.

Herbal Support for Long COVID

The Herbs

  • Astragalus, also known as milk vetch, has been used for centuries to strengthen the immune system and help the body resist illness. It has been a popular remedy for upper respiratory infections, hay fever, asthma, and chronic fatigue syndrome. In addition to supporting immunity, astragalus has also been used to support kidney health and address chronic conditions. The versatile herb is applied topically to improve blood flow and speed up wound healing.
  • Danshen, or Red Sage, has a rich history of promoting cardiovascular health. Traditionally, it was used to treat conditions like atherosclerosis, heart attack, arrhythmia, and heart enlargement by improving blood circulation. Beyond supporting heart health, danshen was also valued for addressing menstrual disorders and relieving pain, such as stomachaches, abdominal pain, and chest pain caused by blood stasis. Its role extended to treating rheumatism, joint pain, and insomnia. Modern research has confirmed that danshen has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiplatelet properties, making it a powerful herb for supporting heart health and reducing pain.

The Study

The research involved 49 individuals suffering from severe fatigue or brain fog. Participants took the herbal remedy over four weeks. By the end of the study, the results were impressive. Physical and mental fatigue improved by about 50%. Participants reported a 54% boost in energy and a 52% reduction in brain fog. Cognitive clarity and mental sharpness also increased significantly, showing the power of this natural solution in addressing persistent symptoms.

Additionally, participants experienced a 47% improvement in their overall quality of life. The herbal treatment targeted specific symptoms while promoting a more holistic well-being. Since persistent symptoms can severely impact daily life, the findings offer hope for those seeking alternative ways to manage their condition.

Researchers called the improvements “significant” and “radical.” Herbal support for long-term COVID shows great potential as a helpful intervention. While more research is needed to understand its effects and establish treatment guidelines, the study offers hope for a natural approach to managing these persistent health issues.
